Corvette To-Do List

I am adding a status to every task I need to accomplish. The status can be:

a) WAITING – not yet looked at; problem not discovered yet
b) IN PROGRESS – part(s) bought; currently in the middle of fixing
c) ON HOLD – temporarily stopped fixing or installing
d) DONE! – the problem has been repaired/new part(s) installed and the system is working fine.

Active To-Do List

  • Install new door sealings. All replaced by now except the seals going around the doors. DONE!
  • Install new door hinge sticks. Parts available, need to install. IN PROGRESS (driver side done, passenger waiting)
  • Fix handbrake. Quite certainly the cable needs to be replaced or tightened. Brake works but is weak. UPDATE: Cable tightened and handbrake is still not very good. It seems like the handbrake pads may be worn. WAITING
  • Apply rust and corrosion protection to the frame (without removing the body). WAITING
  • Re-paint some of the oyster color interior components. WAITING
  • New components to the engine (crankshaft, cylinder heads, intake manifold, carburetor). WAITING
  • New exhaust system with headers. WAITING
  • Buy and install new tail lights. DONE!
  • Buy and install daytime running lights. WAITING
  • New steering system. WAITING
  • Fix front left and rear right brake calipers. DONE! (complete new SSBC brake set installed)
  • Open and re-build differential. WAITING
  • Fix and adjust door windows to seal completely and slide properly on their tracks. WAITING
  • Fix windshield washer pump. WAITING

Archive (All Fixed)

  • Fix the speedometer. (Solution: new driven gear)
  • Fix the interior lights (roof lamp and floor lamps) so that they illuminate when the doors are open.
  • Fix the dash illumination.
  • Fix the license plate lighting.
  • Small exhaust manifold leak front right of the engine.
  • Cooling system pressure sometimes too high. Has blown the top radiator hose off the radiator a couple of times. (Solution: Pressure is normal, hose was wrong and secured incorrectly)
  • Secure the floor carpet, install transmission heat seal cloth underneath the carpet.
  • Corvette logo emblem on the passenger side fender is a bit misaligned. Seems like it has happened already during the body restoration that was carried out on this car in USA.
  • Fix some paint damage on the lower side of the body below the doors, on the hood edges and T-top edges.
